When looking for Seattle hotels you need to know that there are 3 main districts when it comes to Seattle Hotels. The main Seattle Hotel area is as you'd expect in the downtown district known as the Pike / Pine corridor, which is bordered roughly by 1st Avenue to 8th Avenue and from Pine St to James St. |

This is a very useful guide to be able to judge how far your potential Seattle hotel is from downtown.
The major hotel chains are all located in this downtown Seattle area, so if the reason for your visit is shopping then the following are all ideally situated for you. Hilton, Crowne Plaza, Sheraton, Red Lion amongst a host of other Seattle hotels.
A more recent area for Seattle hotels is South Lk Union, being on the fringe of the downtown area things like parking is easier but the trade off is that you can't just step out of your hotel and be right in the middle of downtown. The introduction of a new streetcar line connecting the area to downtown does make things easier however. Hotels in this area include: Marriott Courtyard, Marriott Residence Inn, Silver Cloud Inn and Pan Pacific amongst others.
The third main area for Seattle hotels and motels would be the area that is concentrated around the Seattle Space Needle and Seattle Center.
This is a particularly good area for those visitors with a family as many of Seattles main attractions and many shops are only a short walk away. Buses into downtown are extremely easily accessible from here and there is always the option of taking the Monorail.
The primary Seattle hotels in this area include Hampton Inn, Comfort Suites, Best Western Executive Inn amongst others. |

Nestled between the jagged Olympic Mountains range to the west and the volcanic peaks of the Cascade Mountain Range to the east, Seattle sits on a narrow strip of land between Puget Sound and 18-mile-long Lake Washington.
Apart from offering spectaular surrounding scenary as the above may suggest, Seattle is a great city to shop. With a wide variety of interesting and unusual shops you will be sure to find something to satisfy the most discerning shopper.
Park Place Market,
Nine decades old, Pike Place is one of Seattle's most popular landmarks, as famous for the antics of its vendors as it is for its merchandise. Its most popular buildings are the Main and North arcades, with the carefully arranged stacks of produce, fresh fish, crabs and mollusks piled high with ice. The best time to visit the market is on a weekday morning.
Over half of the market's open-air stalls are now devoted to locally made arts & crafts, and its lower levels are filled with small shops, from Indian spice stalls to magicians' supply shops. The streets surrounding Pike Place Market continue the maze of shops, with ethnic food stalls, plant shops, galleries and gift boutiques. Pike Place Market is in the northwestern corner of downtown Seattle, close to the waterfront.
The Space Needle is a 600ft (180m) rocket styled observation station and restaurant. After the 41 second ride up its elevators to the top, visitors are treated to breathtaking 360° views. The top of the 605-foot Space Needle is the best place to orient oneself to the city and its surroundings.
These are just a couple of must-do's when you venture out from your Seattle Hotel. |

BUDGET Seattle Hotel Rooms
The question that seems to be asked a lot in the Seattle Forum is where to find more reasonably priced Seattle Hotel Rooms. The most popular answer has been Sixth Avenue Motor Inn, Days Inn, Ramada Inn which are very close to the heart of downtown. Others include the Moore Hotel. The Ramada lately has been getting some pretty awful reviews so please do tread carefully and be forewarned. Others have reported getting Seattle Hotel rooms at The Red Lion 5th avenue for as little as $60, so why waste time with cheap motel type places. Read the links mentioned below and you will be more happy with a better quality Seattle Hotel room but still at the motel price.
The Executive Hotel Pacific, the Sixth Avenue Inn and the two Best Westerns just north of downtown (the Executive Inn and the Loyal Inn). But in the summer months, it can be hard to find even budget places for under $150-200.
Hotwire and Priceline are also good resources for finding less expensive Seattle Hotel rooms. You have to be careful that you are selecting hotels in the correct zone. Usually downtown, or Pike Pine, or Lk Union hotels are popular zones. Be certain because each website defines each area differently.
